We are in year two into no college Christmas party. In these financial times, it is the right thing to continue. My husband's employer also is on year two of no collective celebration.
While we don't do something college wide, we do have a tradition in the HR office that we continue to maintain - and love. Once finals are done and offices are wrapping up business, we pick our day. We close for the morning (usually back in the office around 9:30) and have breakfast together at a local diner. It's perfect - we don't close during prime business hours, breakfast is relatively affordable, we aren't giving up an evening or weekend and we have time to relax and enjoy.
It is also a wonderful way to start the day. Any other creative alternatives to the cancelled holiday party?
