This was in my inbox on Monday.
Dear Diedre Honnor,
Warm holiday wishes from all of us at XYZ company. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you during the past year. We look forward to working with you in 2013.
This is from a company with whom we do NOT do business.
This is from a company with whom we have no intention of doing business in 2013.
My name is spelled wrong. Both of them.
This drives me nuts. If you are too lazy to check the spelling of my name, where else will you cut corners?
Plus I really dislike the one-size-fits-all, spammy holiday email. If you know me AT ALL, you know that I work for college affiliated with a church, and we celebrate Christmas.
To my business colleagues, skip the low-end, generic, spammy holiday email. If you want to make a true impression, send a card. A real card. In an envelope. With a stamp.
This takes time and intention and it means something. Just please, spell my name correctly will you?
